Competition Car Insurance?
« on: July 22, 2020, 05:28:53 pm »
Does anybody know what has happened to the insurance company called ''Competition Car Insurance?''

{I used them years ago, as I found them reasonable, and willing to insure my much modified skoda without going into reams and reams of the mods I had done to it.}

They were very popular and I can still see the advert from the magazines depicting what I recall to be a MK2 Escort.
Maybe they were swallowed up by the big boys.

Competition Car Insurance is still around.   Founded by Richard Eggar, he eventually sold out to one of the big boys.
He then went on to found Richard Eggar Insurance Services, who tended to be able to undercut Competition Car Insurance.
He then sold that outfit, which continues to trade under the name REIS and is used by many event organisers to provide on-event cover as well as providing normal road cover and individual event cover.
I have my car covered by them, and the additional cost of inclusive event cover was less than taking out the separate on-event cover for three MCC trials.

If you're looking for a company to insure you, I used RH Specialist Vehicle Insurance (ERS Syndicate Service Ltd) for my trials three-wheeler and for my trials Beetle.  There was no hassle in supplying details of modifications.  The Beetle cost £70.42 for last year, fully comprehensive with breakdown cover.  When I sold the Beetle, I got a refund of £42.  You'd have a job to beat that.

Adrian Flux used to do this on special application.
