There is a farm that our LE route took us past in previous years; Cloutsham. At the end of a little valley underneath Dunkery Beacon (highest point on Exmoor), LE main trial riders and drivers would either have finished Stoney Street, or latterly a special test up Crookhorn hill and taken the lane down into a dell, over a ford, and round a switchback rise to Cloutsham Farm and the spectacular road over the shoulder of Exmoor to the top of Porlock Hill at County Gate.
For most riders and probably most drivers it would have been too dark to spot the old hill rising up to the right, just after the ford. The hill shortcuts the tarmac road reappearing after a stoney hairpin just as the farm is reached.
I've often wanted to go and have a look at it, so last weekend I did. I took a few stills and a video or two, and they're on youtube here
