Hi Mike,  I'm going to give the bike a once over tomorrow afternoon and change the fork oil. Going to have a ride on a few trails on Saturday morning and then give it a clean. I'll be fitting the road book reader on Sunday and fit the tool bag on the back. I'll go to work on it next week to iron out any other bugs that might surface and then it's fun and games trying to get to Cornwall on bankholiday Friday with everyone else in the country

Bike is all prepped and ready to go (valve clearances checked, engine oil renewed, new rear tyre, wheels balanced).  Route still to go into route holder (hoping for no last minute changes) and spares and the usual crap to be loaded on the rear mudguard.

Rider is the only area of doubt .  Been steadily going downhill

I've booked a table in a very nice restaurant in Cirencester for dinner after my shift at the start, and told the neighbours that I'm having a lie-in this Easter Saturday for a change.

My trusty year 2000 Suzuki Swift 1.0 will get checked over this weekend, although it passed its MOT with no advisories last month. My better half is out "road testing" it at the moment (OK, so she doesn't actually know that - she's gone shopping).

I will put my wellies and cold/wet gear in the boot and load up with the essential flask of tea and a few other snacks on Friday before setting off about 8 pm on my 5 - 6 hour drive to "Hackmarsh" to begin my shift.

Hopefully the Good Friday traffic will have mainly got where it's going to by then and I might get a clear run down.

Don't forget - those with very low tyre pressures tend to get punctures on Hackmarsh (a very rocky section) and changing a wheel on the hill is a nightmare. I'll be among those pushing the failures out (although I have been told we might have some help from a recovery 4x4 this year and for once I might be not be the youngest team member ;-) ).

the Ranger is just about sorted, just the final checks to do this week.  took it to work today, so it'll get a 50 mile shakedown run to iron out any last minute bugs :-)

We, Lars, Gunnar and myself, are now starting from Sweden, Southampton of Stockholm. Todays goal is the night Ferry Trelleborg-Travemunde. Three days in the car. What an adventure!
