Title: Lands End Map 2018
Post by: Jason Potts on February 25, 2019, 04:36:48 pm
Courtesy of Rick Howell, for all those who have not done this before. 2019 will follow a very similar route. Enjoy.

Thanks Jason.

Note - this map does not supercede the official route in any way, nor is the base map particularly up to date. It is purely intended to provide a guide to the current (2018) LE trial routes and the approximate locations of sections etc.

If you decide to use this as your route card and miss out on a triple award then I told you so.... :(

Thank you Jason!
For us coming from Sweden this makes thing much more clear.
-we have understod the main route.
-we have understood both starting point an finish line.
-and we have a hotel close to the finish line!
Right now we are finetuning the transport through northern Europe and equipment like clothes and light.

Which starting point are you going from?

We are three guys from Sweden starting from Subway, Plusha. The reason is that the starting point is not that far from the finish, easier for us with the car and trailer.

Hey Ulff, which hotel are you guys staying at?

Me and Rick are both starting from Plusha. If you are struggling with reading the instructions along the way you are welcome to follow us two. we are both in class B. We will be staying for a beer at the end in Hayle so will be nice to see you there with your finishing certificates. Rick will be travelling back to a camp site near to the blue hills section after finishing but I will be saying near Hayle over night. I haven't arrange a hotel yet though. My plans for the Sunday are to ride back to Plusha as I'm leaving my car there. Maybe we could ride back together.
regards
Jason

Hello Jason,
We will arrive to Hayle on the evening the 18th. And have the room for three nights, at Travelodge hotel in Hayle. Means that we at the 19th take the bikes and go to Plusha for the start.
The advantage is that the finish is very close to our hotel and the car.
Look forward to meet you at Plusha. And at the finish line.
Perhaps we can go together from Plusha to Bridgwater?

Ulf, you guys are going to have had an adventure when the trial is finished and you are back in Sweden.  Your story would be very interesting for the rest of the club members, so, is there any chance you can write an article for Triple, the club magazine ;)?  Celia Walton, the Editor, would love to have an article from you.  Don't worry about writing an article in English, Celia can correct any major errors of grammar or punctuation :).

"Don't worry about writing an article in English"

Didn't realise Celia could speak Swedish.
Like me, she must have learnt it watching the Swedish Chef on The Muppet Show  ;D ;D ;D

(Sorry, still can't remember how to "insert quote", it's an age thing don't you know).

We look forward to write something about our three days drive from Sweden, the darkness in Cornwall, left hand traffic, the shore of the Atlantic and British motorsport culture at its best. And the 2200 km drive back.

…….. the darkness in Cornwall ….
Be careful in Cornwall; it's a foreign country.  Anywhere 100 miles from London is dodgy  :D

Hi
As Ulfs participating friend in this adventure I can tell that we will stay at the Travelodge hotel in Hayle, Carwin Rise, loggans, Hayle, TR27 5DG UK. A lot of abbreviations but I think we  will find it.

we look forward to both the race and the beer. We are meeting every Tuesday doing planning, it is a large mind map.

See you

Best regards

Gunnar

.... doing planning, it is a large mind map.

Excellent!

Anyway the Travelodge Hotel you seek at Hayle is on the main road through Cornwall called the A30. If you miss Hayle and get to Land's End itself, stop for two reasons:

1. it is the end of the land. It gets very wet if you go too far. :o
2. The owners of this iconic bit of Cornwall will charge you a fee to get in. Don't bother.  >:(
Go to St Just and get some fish and chips, and ride down to Cape Cornwall instead. Then ride back though Zennor to St Ives and Hayle. 8)

No need for mind maps - Ordnance Survey maps are all you need. ;)
