WHAT VEHICLE DO YOU USE TO COMPETE IN MCC EVENTS?
I currently navigate in an open reliant. Past vehicles include a 1953 BSA 500cc Gold Star scrambles bike, 1949 Ariel and sidecar; 650cc Triumph WASP and more.
HOW HAS THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AT MCC EVENTS?
Varying awards with Reliant. Varying reliability on all machines whether mine or my driver’s!
WHAT ADIVCE WOULD YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE THINKING ABOUT ENTERING THEIR FIRST LONG DISTANCE TRIAL?
Prepare machine thoroughly, then check it again. Don’t carry too much on a bike in the way of tools and equipment, you’ll tire yourself out. Wear comfortable, warm clothing, boots and warm outside layer, then (especially on a bike) wear waterproofs on top. You may not look good but you need to be warm and dry. High viz Sam Browne or similar a good idea. Even if you are using closed car, bring good waterproofs in case of breakdown. Definitely a good idea to marshal first.
