60 seconds with Steph Jeavons

With less than a month to go until The Edinburgh Trial, we spoke to author, journalist and adventure motorcyclist Steph Jeavons, who is entering the event for the first time.

Tell us a bit about you and your history with motorbikes...
I first rode a motorbike as a child on the back of my Dad’s Honda CB250. I progressed to my own bike by the age of 21, but was already fully into the community of bikers with all my friends and boyfriend owning bikes and, of course, sporting the mullets of the day!

What vehicle(s) do you currently own/ride?
I own several Honda CRFs, a Triumph street triple, a Ford transit camper van (very scruffy on the outside but cosy on the inside), and a VW Tiguan. Too many vehicles for my purse, but I love them all.

We’re delighted to have you taking part in this year’s Edinburgh Trial. Have you ever entered a long distance, classic trial before?
No never. I'm really quite excited but can't promise to be any good! I will, however, do my best to have fun and take on the challenge with a very large, and hopefully muddy smile!

What are you most looking forward to about The Edinburgh Trial?
The teamwork and camaraderie! Our all-girl team of Moto Junkies are going to be friends for life by the end of this. Nothing like taking on a challenge with like-minded people and coming out the other end having shared an experience and made wonderful memories. Priceless.

How do you feel about being part of the first all-female motorcycle team (we think!) taking part in the event?
This is brilliant and makes it even more special. Even if we come last, we don't care, although of course, we don't plan to be! We will be doing our best to take on the boys and reaching the bar first. There is a bar right?
