The Edinburgh Trial - Where to spectate
Bamford Clough
- Why spectate at Bamford Clough?: Apart from the spectacular scenery, which is a good enough reason in itself, Bamford is a very long, very straight, very rough hill which has competitors fighting to keep going all the way up. It always provides a great opportunity to take a photograph of a trials car with all four wheels in the air.
- Section begins at OS Landranger/Grid Ref: 110/210838.
- Directions: Do not approach the section from, or park in, Bamford Village. Approach the top of the section along the unclassified road which leaves the A6013, just south of the Ladybower Reservoir, at GR 110/202849 - beware of competitors coming in the opposite direction. The exit from the observed section is at GR 110/214840.
- Parking: Please park neatly on one side of the road leaving room for competitors to stop and adjust their tyres after leaving the section.
- Timing (2006): First motorcycle due at 09:01. Last car due at 13:07.

Calton
- Why spectate at Calton?: For an Edinburgh section, it's remarkably close to a main road - the A6 east of Buxton - and therefore has comparatively easy access, and reasonable parking. The section itself is unspectacular, but you do get a good view from almost anywhere along it.
- Section begins at OS Landranger/Grid Ref: 119/122712.
- Directions: Approach directly from the A6, following the trial route.
- Parking: Please park neatly on the wide section of 'dead end' road, leaving room for competitors to stop and adjust their tyres before attempting the section.
- Timing (2006): First motorcycle due at 06:04. Last car due at 10:10.

Where NOT to spectate
The Peak District is an extremely sensitive area for all motorsport and maintaining good relations with those who live in the areas we pass through is essential to the continuity of the event. We therefore ask you not to spectate at those sections which are close to villages - this applies particularly to Litton Slack and Great Hucklow. In addition, many of the other sections used for the Edinburgh Trial are some distance from the public highway with inadequate, or non-existent, parking facilities. In short, if you've had enough of watching the trial at one of the three sections above, please offer to marshal on one of the others - it's the only acceptable way to see them in use.
